  • Stuck in the Serengeti

One would think that when you’ve driven past a bunch of lions, cheetahs, hyena’s and other scary animals, that one would panic when your vehicle gets stuck in the mud. But our trusty driver had no hesitation in hopping out to assist another stricken vehicle. After a while, we got bored just sitting around, so we all plowed out of the truck to stretch our legs for a bit. I remember standing there and pointing out that there could be a lion just chilling out nearby, but for some reason the lackadaisical approach of our driver spread to the rest of us, and we all just stood there calmly watching on as the 4WD experts tackled the issue at hand. We did not get eaten 🙂

  • Tortoise’s

We got to see these cool little tortoises in the Cheetah Rock wildlife sanctuary in Zanzibar.

  • Millipede

I stood on something in Zanzibar, and yelped when I saw I’d stomped on this little dude. Thankfully he seemed to take it pretty well and just kept on trucking.

  • Zanzibar insect

I have no idea what this little dude was, but he landed directly beside me while staying at a beach side hotel in Zanzibar.

  • Greenery on way to Ngorongoro

View of the lush green hills surrounding Ngorongoro national park in Tanzania.

  • Termite mound

Check out this giant termite mound we found in Tarangire national park in Tanzania!

  • Baboons

We met these little guys at the entrance to the Serengeti national park in Tanzania. Documentaries I had seen explained that baboons would tear your face off at the first opportunity, but we were surrounded by swarms of them and they were mostly quite standoffish around us. They were more interested in breaking into cars and rubbish bins to steal food, than messing with humans.

  • Dinner in Zanzibar

Food isn’t a strong point of Tanzania in my opinion. But while there, Basia and I did manage to track down a couple of restaurants with decent food.

  • Chameleon

Near the entrance to Serengeti national park, I found a large number of chameleon’s hanging out on rocks. Unfortunately, they usually ran away whenever I tried to get near, but I did manage to snap this picture of one of these little beauties before it took off.
