    F16 Fighting Falcon

My bedroom back in the 1980’s was adorned with multiple models of the F16 Fighting Falcon, an American fighter jet which capture my imagination after watching the overly cheesy movie Iron Eagle. Fast forward quite a few years, and I eventually got the chance to see some first hand at the Berlin Airshow earlier this year. The sound of them flying is incredible, as is the phenomenal acceleration.

    Messerschmitt Me 262

The Messerschmitt Me 262 was the world’s first fighter jet, and I got see one at the Berlin airshow 🙂 These things were the menace of the allied air forces towards the end of world war 2, and many experts believe that if they’d been operational a year earlier, that they could have helped Germany change the direction of the war and lead to a very different world than the one we live in today.

    Wing walking!

I headed to the Berlin Airshow with new friends Mo and Madalina.

Ze Germans put on a terrific show, including this crazy nutter who decided it was a smart idea to stand on the wing whilst doing a turnover!

  • Virgin pilot

Ever wondered how bad someone looks the first time they fly a plane, and without any instruction? Well here’s my rather pitiful attempt. I crashed it again about an hour after this clip was taken and am about to go buy some replacement parts this afternoon to repair the damage! Fingers crossed my flying improves soon 🙂

Some photos snapped from the plane, en route to Tromsø with Harriet.

  • Technik Museum Speyer

Vikas Aggarwal took Victoria Argyle and I to the Technik Museum Speyer in Germany. They had all sorts of different types of locomotion including trains, planes, automobiles and underwater submarines.

We got strapped to the side of a Boeing 747 and taken for a flight. It was quite blustery but I managed to snap the following pic just after takeoff.

What it looks likes when you are strapped to the side of a Boeing 747!
Flying on the side of a Boeing 747 at full pelt can be quite windy, I recommend taking some goggles along.

My plans of becoming a sub-mariner were squashed as soon as I entered this thing. It is the most seriously cramped place I
And to really put paid to my sub-mariner plans, these torpedo bays are only meters from the bedroom area.
