Fun day out at the Science Center Berlin, for an exhibit about human mobility.

I organised a hike for the Berlin Hikers meetup group. I figured I’m lazy, so I chose a short route. I wanted to sleep in, so I made sure the route was close to town. I wanted to blob out and drink beer and eat food afterwards, so I chose a place with a nice cafe at the end of the route. Apparently lots of others liked this approach, as a ton of people came along đ

We chose the hottest weekend of the year to go on a bike camping trip to Liepnitzsee, a small lake north of Berlin. Heat exhaustion and bike tire problems did not manage to spoil a great weekend out. The water was amazing and so was the company đ

If you want to see butt pictures from the trip, just let me know đ
I went sledding at Korketrekkeren in Oslo. Don’t ask what the yellow stuff is, you don’t want to know!

I went on a bike trip from Berlin to Beelitz-Heilstätten, an abandoned military hospital. This was where Adolf Hitler was unfortunately repaired after having his ball blown off during World War 1. Later, it was used as a Nazi military hospital, and afterwards served as a military hospital for the Soviet Union until the 1990’s. Now it is simply a collection of spectacular ruins.

We were told that we wouldn’t be able to go in as the area was blocked off and not open to individuals. But we just kept walking on into the grounds expecting to see a sign or fence indicating where we weren’t allowed, but never saw anything of the sort.

Now that we’re into some cooler weather, I thought I’d point out the day some idiot (me) decided it was a good idea to go test out his new inline skates at 34° C! This was the hottest day of the year so far, and I think I’ll go find some place with shade or water next time đ Whizzing around on searing hot asphalt doesn’t lend itself well to staying cool đ Thanks to Robinson and Anna for a great day out though đ

I decided it was a good idea to cycle the entire length of the Berlin Wall (Berlin Mauerweg). 160 km’s later, and I feel a tad wrecked, but it was definitely worth the effort đ There wasn’t much left to indicate the wall was there originally. The guard towers are mostly pulled down and most of the open spaces are overgrown or built on now. But it’s definitely a good trip to make. Cycling the wall route is an excellent way to get a feel for how long the border the communists were attempting to lock in was. Thanks to Marty, Martine, Robinson, James, Tina and Jenny for an awesome and exhausting day out đ
