  • Mount Cook

I had a few hours spare before meeting up with Melissa in Oamaru, so headed north to Mount Cook for the afternoon. Unfortunately the weather started to pack in badly as I arrived.

  • Penguins in Oamaru

Melissa and I went to see some Baby Blue penguins at the Oamaru colony. Unfortunately it was nearly impossible to get a good photo due to the crappy lighting but below is the best I managed.

In the absence of good photos, we drew some penguins instead 🙂

  • Dougs

Krissi’s plucky little dog Dougs kept me well entertained over the new years period. He even outpaced the humans whilst mountain biking up a steep hill!

I went mountain biking while camping at Albert Town with my friend Krissi. The weather was terrific and there were great views of the Hawea river.

  • Climbing trees

I went to visit Bret and Jaydee whilst back in Dunedin. Bret was in the process of building a kick butt tree house for the kids. I hadn’t climbed a tree in a very long time. Lack of flexibility with age hasn’t exactly improved my ability to clamber up trees, but I eventually popped out onto a sweet little platform constructed up in the tree top 🙂

  • Sushi on Mt Cargill

Sushi and I headed to the top of Mt Cargill in Dunedin to see the sunset. We had a spectacular view out over the city.

  • Ross Creek Reservoir

During my visit to Dunedin, I went to check out the Ross Creek Reservoir which I had heard was drained due to earthquake damage. Thankfully the lake is still there, it’s just a little lower than it was in the past. I was expecting a hideous mud bog to remain, but the reservoir is still a pleasant place to visit.

Some photos of my old friend Sushi and myself at St Clair beach in Dunedin. We took these whilst I was back for a holiday.
