    Midnight bike ride to Müggelturm

A big bunch of us headed for a midnight bike ride to Müggelturm, a strange communist era viewing tower on the south eastern edge of Berlin. Apparently back in the old days, the hip thing to do was hanging out in a strange tower in the middle of nowhere, admiring the surrounding forest. We finished off our trip with a picnic under the stars by Müggelsee, the largest lake near Berlin.

I went on a cool little hiking trip in Strausberger today, just outside of Berlin. Special thanks to Annick for organising an awesome trip 🙂

  • Spring barbecue in Norway

Everyone says that spring in Norway is beautiful. So we decided to celebrate it by having a barbecue by the lake at a balmy -3°. We also discovered that putting a baby disposable barbecue on a wooden bench is not such a good idea, unless of course you want to barbecue your food with the table itself.

  • Ross Creek Reservoir

During my visit to Dunedin, I went to check out the Ross Creek Reservoir which I had heard was drained due to earthquake damage. Thankfully the lake is still there, it’s just a little lower than it was in the past. I was expecting a hideous mud bog to remain, but the reservoir is still a pleasant place to visit.

  • Ørfiske with Marte

I went cycling around Ørfiske north of Oslo, Norway with my friend Marte.

  • Cycling above Maridalsvannet

More photos from my cycling trips 🙂 This time it’s Maridalsvannet from above.

  • Trollvann

I went to Trollvann, a beautiful little lake in the hills above Oslo. The place was swarming with families out enjoying the beautiful Norwegian summer.

Trollvann. Perfect spot for a summers day out.
  • Movatn with Ingvild and Marte

The lovely Ingvild and Marte invited me to stay at their awesome little cottage in the woods. It overlooks a beautiful little lake called Movatn. The weather gods were angry that evening, but we were nice and cosy and downed some yummy seafood chowder followed by a healthy dose of ice cream and chocolate sauce 🙂

  • Cycle touring in/near Oslo

It seems people are fascinated about where I end up on my weekends, so here are some snaps from a couple of weeks ago. I ended up somewhat lost during a cycling trip as I forgot my phone so had no Google maps, I had an awful map which barely showed any detail and I forgot my compass to boot, so kept losing my bearings. I eventually ended up sitting beside an awesome lake called Nøklevannet; I didn’t take any photos whilst there because there were girls bouncing around in bikini’s everywhere and so I didn’t want to look like the creepy guy taking photos of them (plus I was too busy staring at boobs to take photos). It ended up being a 40 km round trip, including lots of detours attempting to find something interesting. Next time I will take a good map, compass, phone and figure out where the heck I’m going first 🙂

Oslo sure does get some beautiful weather despite what the locals may say.

I accidentally stumbled across this small lake called Skraperudtjem during my travels. There are beautiful little lakes like this hidden all over the area.
