  • Norskurss – del to!

I need to write a dialog in Norwegian for the following cartoon. I want something witty and easy for me to translate into Norwegian. Any suggestions?

  • Cycling above Maridalsvannet

More photos from my cycling trips 🙂 This time it’s Maridalsvannet from above.

This is my assignment for my Norwegian language class.

The response from anyone who actually understands Norwegian on reading this blog post.

  • Hello world!

Dang! So I actually made use of this Hello World post for once. This blog is where I intend to file all the incoherent random shit that would bore the daylights out of my regular blog readers. If you want to be entertained, head on hover to my personal blog or even my geek blog if you are so inclined.

I’ve been meaning to launch this site for quite a while and was prompted to do so when I realised I needed somewhere to stash sentences I’m writing for my Norwegian course. I figured I’m better of posting them publicly so that people can slam my incoherent Norwegian babbling and fix all the errors for me before sending them off to my teacher for marking, hehe 🙂 It’ll also make sure I store this stuff for prosperities sake. If by some miracle I do actually learn how to speak Norwegian, then it could be amusing to look back in a few years time and see how just far I have come. It may even be useful for similarly language deprived n00bs to gauge how long it’ll take them to go from incoherent babble to “mez speaks da Norwegain gud” standard.

Hmmm, enough ranting. Now to go write some Norwegian.

Oh, and there will of course be other stuff on here too. The language lessons just prompted me to do it sooner rather than later. I’m often needing somewhere to stick stuff online and usually resort to things like pastebin instead, but will likely use this site for a lot of that stuff from now on instead.

Apparently a picture paints a thousand words, so here is one of me in a penguin outfit …

  • Trollvann

I went to Trollvann, a beautiful little lake in the hills above Oslo. The place was swarming with families out enjoying the beautiful Norwegian summer.

Trollvann. Perfect spot for a summers day out.
  • Movatn with Ingvild and Marte

The lovely Ingvild and Marte invited me to stay at their awesome little cottage in the woods. It overlooks a beautiful little lake called Movatn. The weather gods were angry that evening, but we were nice and cosy and downed some yummy seafood chowder followed by a healthy dose of ice cream and chocolate sauce 🙂

  • Linderudkollen hoppsenter

Whilst cycling on the weekend I stumbled across a well known Norwegian past-time … ski jumping. These crazy Norwegian nutcases launch themselves off stupidly steep ramps whilst on skis. Apparently doing it in the winter is not enough, and so some of the craziest ones resort to doing it on an even crazier plastic hill during the summer months.

    Here is the result …

The jumper did get up. Nothing more than damaged pride.

The photos were taken at Linderudkollen hoppsenter near Oslo, Norway.

  • Kringlevann

Another day, another cycling trip. This time I headed north east to Kringlevann on advice from my friends Marte and Ingvild. It turns out they have great advice, as after a pleasant trip uphill I was greeted by a beautiful little lake nestled in the woods above Oslo city.

  • Oslo at 1:15am

Some of my friends in New Zealand seemed fascinated that it could still be light outside in Oslo during the wee hours of the morning, so I took this photo at 1:15am during the middle of July to demonstrate how bright it gets.
